Building materials distributor Travis Perkins has made its largest ever investment in information technology in the form of a cloud transformation programme with software firm Infor.
The deployment makes the UK-based company, which employees nearly 30,000 employees and is forecast to turnover £6.5 billion this year, Infor’s largest customer.
Travis Perkins operates more than 20 businesses spanning the trade, construction and home improvement markets, with more than 2,000 outlets across the UK.
The FTSE 100 company selected CloudSuite – Infor’s suite of industry-specific applications built on AWS’s cloud – with the goal of enhancing the experience for its customers and employees across the business.
Infor Services, in cooperation with Travis Perkins, will manage the implementation for its merchant businesses and the solution will be deployed in the cloud.

The solution will provide increased flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, bring new locations and facilities online, and vary processes across multiple business units, as well as the capacity to support continued growth, Infor said.
Ease-of-use was also an important factor in Travis Perkins’ selection process, said the company’s CEO John Carter.
“We have a national footprint and an evolving customer base who are increasingly relying on digital technology to do business,” said Carter. “We therefore wanted to equip our colleagues with simple IT solutions in-branch.
“Through working in partnership with Infor we will embark on implementing the biggest systems change in the history of Travis Perkins Group, which will enable us to remain agile, increase our productivity and to keep providing excellent customer service.”
Stephan Scholl, president at Infor, added: “To be chosen to support an iconic group like Travis Perkins, with a rich history that spans more than 200 years, to help transform its business is a tremendous honour for Infor.”
