Birch, who replaces Barney Taylor, joined Ensono in June with a remit to transition into the managing director role, and will lead delivery of sustainable and profitable growth, focusing on team engagement, client value, technology and and innovation.
The new appointment brings over 20 years’ experience in IT to Ensono, holding extensive expertise in transformation activities across all areas of technology, having worked with multinationals in the insurance and energy sectors, as well as data centre and service management.
Most recently, Birch served as managing director, Accenture Technology at professional services company Accenture, developing vision, strategy go-to market & execution road map to support the growth of its Technology Insurance Group, as well as working with utilities, oil & gas and travel firms.
Prior to this, she held leadership positions at Computacenter (sector lead — oil and gas) and Fujitsu Services UK (head of oil & gas).
The appointment of Birch as new Europe MD follows Ensono’s recent acquisition of UK-based consultancy Amido, which was announced in April.
The biggest senior technology hires in 2021
“I am more certain than ever that Ensono is one of a select few managed service providers with end-to-end digital transformation capabilities, primed to help our enterprise clients to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of technology in the 21st century,” said new Ensono managing director, Europe, Birch.
“Our acquisition of Amido brings with it a wide array of digital enablement capabilities. Ensono and Amido have already forged trusted partnerships with many leading brands, and with increasing demand for a more flexible and tech-driven experience across all sectors, I am really excited about the myriad of future opportunities to offer more innovative, and particularly cloud-native services to our clients.
“I would like to thank my predecessor Barney Taylor. During his three-year tenure he helped grow the business, win a range of new clients, and show the transformational change Ensono could deliver in partnership with our clients.”
Marc Capri, president of Ensono, commented: “Hannah brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the MD role. She has a strong history leading businesses’ growth strategies and transformations. It is wonderful to officially confirm Hannah as Europe MD.
“During the smooth transition from Barney’s leadership in Europe, Hannah has quickly demonstrated a deep understanding of Ensono’s purpose to deliver transformational programmes to its clients. She is the perfect individual for the job to lead Ensono Europe to future success, building on the exciting opportunities created by Ensono’s recent acquisition of Amido.”
Battling the skills shortage
With the tech sector facing a skills shortage, due to evolving customer demands and new roles being established, Birch also announced a new Apprenticeship program, along with work with the UK Government’s Kick Start Programme, to support 18–24-year-olds who were displaced during the pandemic.
“Ensono Europe is full of exceptional and talented individuals, all passionate about helping clients to see the new possibilities for added value across the board created by technology. I am a firm believer in giving everyone the chance to succeed in a career in technology,” Birch continued.
“It’s imperative that as an industry that is facing a skills shortage, we play our part to develop early in career talent. I look forward to working together with all my team in this exciting new era for Ensono in Europe, as we accelerate Ensono’s growth ambitions and deliver more innovation and transformation to our clients and partners, helping to shape their futures in the years ahead.”
