Employees are spending more time than ever sorting through non-urgent, administrative emails, a study by NOP Research Group has found. Of those surveyed for the UK-based study, 52% feel that sorting emails prevents them from working productively, while 62% admitted that it frequently kept them from completing more urgent tasks. NOP estimates that this costs UK businesses around £1.3 billion a year.
A possible solution, say 52% of those questioned, would be to read and sort email remotely, while commuting or running errands, using personal digital assistants (PDAs) or mobile phones.
