Building mobile apps for business the right way

Many small business owners dream to reach the top quickly and easily.

They come up with the best plans to attract customers, but many of them don’t know who to hire to build a website or application that will represent their company.

The Internet really connects people and it’s a useful method to promote a business, so companies are taking advantages of mobile applications to get in touch with their customers.

App developers, however, have a difficult job to determine what companies need internally, or how to put their owner’s ideas into practice.

They are paid good money to create enterprise mobile apps, but must take into consideration many factors to make sure that the result will impress both the company owner and the person who will use the application.

But if the app turns out useless and doesn’t tailor to the company’s and employee’s needs then it is big waste of time and money, the app will be thrown in the trash. How can you avoid this disaster?

Learn about employee’s needs and the environments they work in

As a developer, to make sure that your business app will be successful, you will firstly need to talk to the company manager, listen to his/her ideas and then compare them to what employees say.

If they coincide, then the chances to make the app work will increase.

A business depends on worker’s motivation, power of concentration, but if they’re overburdened, suffocated with tasks, then they will not be able to provide good results and the sales will suffer.

Spend a day among employees, study their environments, habits, business patterns, conduct interviews and understand what type of app will be perfect for the audience.

Add features that will simplify workflows

A great business app makes people go to work with a smile on their face.

They may not be in good relations with everyone at the firm, but if they love doing what they’re paid for, then they ignore dissensions, because they don’t have to actually talk to other co-workers face to face, to handle them documents or take orders from them.

There are communication problems in any company, but applications built especially for helping “antisocial” employees can help reduce this handicap.

No eye contact between work colleagues? No problem!

They can still communicate indirectly, and they will use applications to obtain information they need to perform daily tasks without any problems.

So, the more features are added to the app, the easier it is for everyone to complete “missions” and make the boss happy.

Supported on multiple platforms

Usually, Android is preferred by global audiences, while iOS focuses mostly on enterprises and premium users.

Windows 10 is catching up fast, while BlackBerry is slowly disappearing from the view.

So, when building an app for businesses, determine which platforms are used, so that you’ll know what type of app you will deliver, to be compatible with the devices owned by the companies or their employees.

If the app has a version for each major operating system, then you’ll have a lot of “fun” when coding, because if the audience will use smartphones and tablets, the interface of the app must be adapted to any screen size and environment. Plus, you’ll have to decide how the application will manage data or display features.

Some companies build their own apps

Startup companies don’t have a large amount of money to spend on various needs and owners can’t afford to hire independent developers to create applications that help boost employee’s productivity.

Instead, they recruit skilled beginners and pay them to develop mobile app that are used internally. It’s not really a good idea, because it can take a lot of time to build an application and inexperienced developers don’t always offer the best results.

Conclusion

Before starting to build an enterprise mobile application, it’s important to go outside, meet the audience and take notes. Don’t plan everything in your head, because you might be wrong and your application will fail.

Finally, learn to code and design a beautiful and simple interface that , combined with various features, will meet the employees needs.
