Every single lawyer surveyed in a recent poll said that they have “lost a case, experienced a case delay or been sanctioned by a court or regulator in the past two years” due to information management issues.
However the survey, conducted by security and storage vendor Symantec, also found that “digital evidence”, i.e. electronic stored documents, had been “vital to the success of legal matters” in the past two years for 98% of the 5,000 respondents.

Despite the finding the information issues had undermined cases for all respondents, most were confident in their ability to hand electronically-stored information – 69% of respondents said they were “fully prepared” for processing electronic documents for litigation or compliance matters.
Only 24% said that they lacked the necessary technology to meet demands to supply relevant information.
