KT Ligesh, who developed and sold the HyperVM virtualisation management tool, has been found hanged in his Bangalore flat, apparently having committed suicide.
The news came the day after a report from UK Internet service provider VAServ, alleging that hackers had used a ‘zero day’ flaw (i.e. a bug that had been in the software since it was first released) in HyperVM to destroy 100,000 websites that it hosted.
Speculation that the two events are related has arisen. However, a report in the Times of India suggests that it may have been personal matters that drove Ligesh to take his life. His sister and mother both committed suicide five years ago, and on Sunday night “drank till well past midnight and an agitated Ligesh talked about the death of his mother and sister,” the newspaper says.
