Employers can attract the best talent and generate loyalty among existing IT staff by offering them flexible working hours, a survey by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has found.
The recent poll of more than 1,100 jobseekers in the IT sector, part of the DTI’s Work-Life Balance Campaign, found that about half felt that flexible working was the main benefit they looked for in a job, with only a few preferring gym membership or a company car. About a third said they would prefer flexible hours to £1,000 more pay each year.
Implementing new family friendly employment rights, which start on 6 April, will help companies cut their recruitment costs by generating loyalty among IT staff.
