CTech appoints Peter Scott as new CEO, ahead of European expansion

As new CTech CEO, Scott will look to lead the company strategy to increase its amount of in-store and online retailer partners throughout the UK and mainland Europe, with his first priority being overseeing expansion into Ireland in 2021.

This expansion will focus on the multiple electronics retail sector, providing connectivity with existing operator partners.

Following this, CTech is looking to establish partnerships with operators, service providers and retailers in Germany, Spain and the Nordics.

Bringing 12 years’ telecoms experience to the network enabler, Scott previously served as CEO of Carphone Warehouse Ireland for six years, as well as being president of Sprint Connect.

In addition, Scott also launched iD Mobile in Ireland, and was responsible for the UK and Ireland launch of Dixons Carphone’s multi-play proposition, which enabled companies such as Sky and BT to sell broadband and TV in store.

CTech founder Ashley Bailey, meanwhile, will move to become the chief innovation officer, responsible for developing CTech’s API technology, and the launch of an equivalent broadband service.

“I am excited to be joining CTech Group at this time in its growth,” said new CTech CEO Scott. “The team has done an incredible job of agreeing commercial partnerships with some of the world’s largest mobile networks and online retailers, and is shaking up the ways consumers select and buy mobile SIMs.

“I am looking forward to helping the team build on this success and extend its reach into Europe, as well as disrupt other areas of the market with connectivity solutions for new services including broadband and multi-media.”

CTech founder and new chief innovation officer, Bailey, commented: “CTech has grown rapidly in the last 12 months. Our disruptive business model has attracted investment and allowed us to grow the number of agreements we have in Ireland, the UK, Germany and Spain despite the pandemic. In the UK, we now have 63% of the UK operator market covered by our service and we expect this to grow to over 90% in 2021.

“Now is the right time to begin our expansion into European markets and grow new services like broadband and TV. Peter’s wealth of experience in the industry and expertise in growing scale-ups like ours makes him the best candidate to deliver our ambition to strengthen our line-up of products and services, and ultimately replicate our UK success overseas.”

In the UK, CTech has agreements with Three, Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, Lebara, O2 and Virgin Media.

The company utilises an API that allows device retailers to drive revenue by selling a connected SIM at the same time as a device.
