Three exciting AI and ML roles across the UK this week

Here are three engaging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) roles that are open to tech talent across the UK right now

If you’re looking to develop a career in artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML), then the UK is a good place to do it.

The UK is ranked third in the world in terms of its levels of investment, innovation, and implementation of AI, with the US and China leading the field. And with the advent of the government’s first National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy in 2021, this offers a ten-year framework that is designed to accelerate its position even further.

Helping things along is the fact that artificial intelligence couldn’t be bigger news right now. The growing awareness of generative AI, driven by tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, is bringing the technology into the mainstream like never before.

And we’re only at the start of what AI can do, with business leaders agreeing that much more is to come. Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella said at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos earlier this year that we are at the beginning of “the emergence of a whole new set of technologies that will be revolutionary”.

Research by Capital Economics last year found that demand for jobs requiring AI skills is estimated to rise by 40 per cent over the next five years, and further research from Lightcast has revealed that the number of UK job postings requesting artificial intelligence skills has more than tripled over the past decade.

Additionally, Lightcast’s research found that job postings which list AI skills pay more, with an average salary premium of around 20 per cent across all jobs. With a labour shortage in this area on-going, talented employees are being snapped up — at a premium.
